About Us

We secure funding for road, bridge, railroad, bicycle, and pedestrian projects. We also plan, design, and coordinate transportation projects.

Engineering staff:

  • designs, constructs, re-constructs, and paves county roads.
  • bridge and culvert construction, drainage, and repair specifications
  • designs and constructs County building facilities and traffic signals on County roads

Transportation staff:

  • conduct studies and coordinate planning efforts with state agencies, municipalities, county departments, and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority
  • They also supervise three county-owned freight railroads.

The Morris County Board of Transportation advises the Division on its activities. It's appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Berkshire Valley Road Truck Circulation Project – Public Meeting 9/21

The NJTPA is managing a study to investigate options to eliminate the height restriction that the Chester Branch rail bridge creates on Berkshire Valley Rd (642). It will also explore options to better accommodate truck movements at the intersection of Berkshire Valley Rd and N. Dell Ave. A virtual public meeting will be held on 9/21 at 6:30pm. County Road Projects – July 28 Update

Morris County has already paved 10 miles of roads during the 2021 paving season, with another 5 miles underway. In all, Morris County will pave 31 miles of roadway in 25 projects running through 20 towns. Read the County Press Release for more information.

Patriot’s Path Great Morristown Greenway Project – August 26 Meeting

The Morris County Park Commission will hold a virtual public information center for their Patriot’s Path Great Morristown Greenway Project on August 26. The project will enhance nearly a mile section of the path between Martin Luther King Avenue and Speedwell Avenue. Read the County Press Release for more information.

NJTPA Long Range Transportation Plan and Public Meeting

The NJTPA is seeking public input on Plan 2050, its long range regional transportation plan, and the FY 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the Air Quality Conformity Determination. There will be a virtual public meeting on July 27 from 4-7pm, and public comments are due on August 4. Read the press release for more information.

NewBus Newark Study

NJ Transit ‘s NewBus Newark Study will reimagine local bus service in the Newark region. The study will analyze 38 routes, including the 29, 70, 73, and 79 buses that serve Morris County. Visit the NewBus project website for more information.
