Inmate Visitation

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Effective February 19, 2022, the Morris County Correctional Facility is once again allowing regular inmate, attorney, and professional visits.


The Morris County Correctional Facility, a $32 million, state-of-the-art structure, opened in May of 2000. This six story building, considered to be one of the premier jails in the nation, includes eight housing pods totaling 277 cells with the capacity to house a total of 524 inmates.

Unless visitation privileges have been revoked, inmates are permitted three visits per week on specified days, 30 minutes up to 1 hour if time permits.

Inmate Visiting Days and Times

January, February, March, July, August, and September

  • Saturdays – 3rd floor visits from 9:00am until 1:00pm; 2nd floor visits from 2:00pm until 7:00pm. No visits from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Registration for visits from 9:00am until 6:00pm.
  • Sundays – 2nd floor visits from 9:00am until 1:00pm; and 3rd floor visits from 2:00pm until 7:00pm. No visits from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Registration for visits from 9:00am until 6:00pm.
  • Mondays – 3rd floor visits from 12:00pm until 5:00pm and 6:00pm until 10:00pm. No visits between 5:00pm until 6:00pm. Registration for visits from 12:00pm until 9:00pm.
  • Tuesdays – 2nd floor visits from 12:00pm until 5:00pm and 6:00pm until 10:00pm. No visits between 5:00pm until 6:00pm. Registration for visits from 12:00pm until 9:00pm.

April, May, June, October, November, and December

  • Saturdays – 2nd floor visits from 9:00am until 1:00pm; 3rd floor visits from 2:00pm until 7:00pm. No visits from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Registration for visits from 9:00am until 6:00pm.
  • Sundays – 3rd floor visits from 9:00am until 1:00pm; 2nd floor visits from 2:00pm until 7:00pm. No visits from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Registration for visits from 9:00am until 6:00pm.
  • Mondays – 2nd floor visits from 12:00pm until 5:00pm and 6:00pm until 10:00pm. No visits place between 5:00pm until 6:00pm. Registration for visits from 12:00pm until 9:00pm.
  • Tuesdays – 3rd floor visits from 12:00pm until 5:00pm and 6:00pm until 10:00pm. No visits between 5:00pm until 6:00pm. Registration for visits from 12:00pm until 9:00pm.

Visitation days vary depending on an inmate’s classification and are subject to change. Please call the correctional facility to determine which days you may visit.

Visitor Requirements

All visitors must present valid United States government-issued photo identification or a valid passport (with photo) issued from a country other than the United States. Acceptable forms of identification include:

  • Driver’s license
  • State issued identification card (any state)
  • Military identification
  • Passport
  • U.S. Immigration identification (including visas)
  • Current high school/college identification
  • Marriage license (with one of the above)
  • Birth certificate (with one of the above)

Rules, Regulations & Procedures for Inmate Visitation

The following rules and regulations shall apply to all visitors:

  • Inmates are permitted to visit with a maximum of two (2) adult (18 years of age or older) visitors at the same time, with no restriction on the number of children (under the age of 18) who are related to the inmate, provided they register for the visit together. In cases where no children are present during the visit, three (3) adults are permitted to partake in the visit.
  • Individuals on parole or the Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program (SLAP) are precluded from visiting.
  • No electronic devices may be brought into the facility. This includes cell phones, tablets and similar devices.
  • All visitors are subject to search of their person and belongings. It is recommended that personal belongings not be brought into the facility.
  • Inmates may not receive items of any type from visitors. This prohibition includes but is not limited to food, medicines, clothing, cards and/or packages.
  • Persons with a warrant will be arrested.
  • Correctional officers may deny a request for visitation or terminate a visit if deemed necessary for security purposes.
  • Questions regarding either inmate or visitor eligibility will be resolved by the shift commander.
  • No transparent or fishnet clothing;
  • No clothing that exposes undergarments or a portion of the body considered private;
  • No Skin-tight clothing;
  • Tops must cover shoulders and midriff areas.  No tube tops, tank tops, halter tops, low-cut shirts or shirts that expose shoulder, mid-drift area, torso or back.
  • Bottoms must at lease cover waist to mid-thigh.  No shorts, skirts or dresses ending above mid-thigh, or which have an inseam length or slit ending more than three inches above the knee.  No low-rise shorts, skirts or pants that expose the midriff or any portion of the buttocks;
  • No clothing closely resembling that issued to inmates;
  • No professional-styled uniforms such as but not limited to:
    • medical/nursing;
    • postal workers;
    • delivery services, etc.;
  • No clothing depicting a message, either in wording or in art, that could impact upon the safety, security or orderly running of the correctional facility, including, but not limited to, that which is offensive, racist, sexually oriented, or advocates illegal or narcotic activities; and
  • No flip-flops.
