Street Histories

Valhalla Road and Route 202 street sign crossing

About

Welcome to the Morris County Street Histories project, created by the Morris County Office of Planning & Preservation.

Oftentimes, it is overlooked the importance roads played in the development of communities, commerce and leisure. Present day road names serve as tellers of history and local folklore as well as memorials and tributes to local citizens.

The street names listed in this document reflect the history of what once were byways of industries, structures or farms no longer extant; pay homage to U.S. presidents and allies and local citizens who played an important part in Morris County history.

Some of our streets remember those in service who gave the last, full measure and are indicated within the documents with a Gold Star.
