MCPO Announce Recovery of Stolen Vehicle and Arrest

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker, Florham Park Police Chief Joseph Orlando and the Morris County Chiefs of Police Association announce the arrest of Tysean Ware, 18, of Newark, New Jersey. 

On June 2, 2021, members of the Florham Park Police Department received a report of a 2019 BMW 7 Series stolen from a residence within their jurisdiction.  Responding officers located the stolen vehicle on Columbia Turnpike, being followed by a vehicle stolen from another jurisdiction outside of Morris County, both traveling at a high rate of speed.  As police attempted to stop the vehicles, they are alleged to have attempted escape by traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph. The BMW stolen out of Florham Park crashed a short time later in Millburn, NJ.  The driver attempted to flee after crashing the BMW and was subsequently apprehended by the Millburn Police and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.        

Tysean Ware, has been charged with:

  • Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer, in violation of 2C:29-2B, a crime of the second degree.
  • Burglary, in violation of 2C:18-2A(1), a crime of the third degree.
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle, in violation of 2C:20-3A, a crime of the third degree.
  • Joyriding, in violation of 2C:20-10B, a crime of the second degree.

Additionally, Ware was charged with the following crimes within the Township of Millburn:

  • Receiving Stolen Property, in violation of 2C:70-7a, a crime of the third degree.
  • Hindering Apprehension, in violation of 2C:29-3A(7), a crime of the third degree.

This arrest was the result of excellent police work by the Florham Park Police Department and the Millburn Police Department.  Subsequent investigation is being conducted jointly by the Florham Park Police Department Detective Bureau and the Morris County Auto Theft Task Force, which operates thanks to the contributions and staffing provided by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and Morris County Chiefs of Police.  Assistant Prosecutor Erin Callahan is representing the State in this prosecution.   

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, this defendant is presumed innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
