Members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office joined the 20th Anniversary Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival and Pride Equality March on Saturday, August 21, 2021 alongside other members of the New Jersey law enforcement community and Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck.

LGBTQ+ Liaison for the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Detective Supervisor Stephanie Merced, alongside Detective Raquelin Perea, who are members of the LGBTQ+ community and who wore their MCPO Pride patches, and Detective Muhammad Thomas, represented the MCPO at the festivities.

The New Jersey Law Enforcement LGBTQ+ Liaisons encompass close to 30 law enforcement agencies at the state, county and local levels, and are committed to fostering positive relationships between the LGBTQ+ community and New Jersey law enforcement agencies through community outreach. At the conclusion of the march, the Liaisons accompanied Acting Attorney General Bruck as he gave a speech about unity, equality and the support of law enforcement agencies within the LGBTQ+ community. He encouraged members of the LGBTQ+ community to come to the police for help, as they are here to protect and serve all members of the community.

The Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival and other themed events held in Jersey City in August celebrate the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, queer, intersex, and asexual communities and allies of the New Jersey/New York area.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said, “The MCPO is proud of our LGBTQ+ Liaisons and support the work they are doing to better understand and promote Diversity for all individuals in our communities.”
