Cannabis Impairment and DWI Recognition
Topic: Briefly explore the New Jersey Cannabis Law and how it affects current police policy and procedures. Students will have the opportunity to learn the various forms of cannabis and paraphernalia: flower, oils, synthetics, and vaping. Understand the signs and symptoms cannabis displays and how to use them during an investigation. Lastly, explore the various field sobriety tests/studies and how to use them efficiently to establish probable cause for an arrest. This class is for all patrol officers who want to learn from the most up to date information and studies on how to establish probable cause when they encounter a subject under the influence of cannabis.
The class is suitable for all levels of experience and does not require a prerequisite.

Course Fee: $150 per person, Credit Card, Check or Purchase Order Accepted. If three (3) or more register from the same police department the fourth (4) officer is free.

Instructor: Michael S. Kelly is a Sergeant with the Jackson Township Police Department. He has been a certified Drug Recognition Expert for over 17 years and a DRE Instructor for 8 years. He has taught drug impairment in Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Sgt Kelly is also a PTC Certified Instructor and has been part of several panels and guest speaking engagements with the New Jersey League of Municipalities and Rowan University to discuss cannabis impairment, workplace impairment and the New Jersey Cannabis Law.
