Police Drill Instructor

The purpose of three-day Police Drill Instructor Course is to develop the leadership,  instructional ability, and command presence of the students by developing self-confidence, knowledge, skills, and sufficient opportunity for practical application.

Emphasis is placed on standard operating procedures for recruit training, drill, and instructional techniques. Overall, leadership is the cornerstone of the course. Ensuring each student has a sound foundation of the basic leadership traits and principles coupled with a solid command presence will allow them to set the proper example for their recruits.

Completion of the Police Drill Instructor Course is one of the requirements to instruct in the Basic Police Class. Students must also successfully complete a Methods of Instruction Course in order to be certified by the Police Training Commission to teach.

Prerequisites: Must be physically fit and possess a high degree of maturity, leadership, judgment, and professionalism. Students will be required to pass the PTC Academy Physical Fitness Assessment on the first day of the course.

Class size is limited to 20.
