Surrogate Darling Will host Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter in Third Surrogate's Session

Morristown, NJ - In recognition of National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and Family Care Givers Month this November, Morris County Surrogate Heather Darling will dedicate her monthly Surrogate's Session to how to help people burdened by the disease and offer caregivers and families access to resources that may offer peace of mind.  The Surrogate's guest for this month's session will be the Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ) with whom she has partnered previously for the benefit of the community served.

"Alzheimer's Awareness Month brings attention to this heartbreaking disease. It is one single month of attention while our Morris County community has families who are caring for their loved ones each and every day," said Surrogate Darling.

The Surrogate's Session will be held Friday, Nov. 13 at noon.  Registration is available at www.morrissurrogate.com.

The Surrogate's Sessions program was designed to offer online education and awareness to the Morris County community.  Prior to COVID-19, Surrogate Darling's speaking engagements offered educational sessions in public and private forums to make residents and their families aware of what the Surrogate's Court does and how it can be a resource for them.

"The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter (AAGNJ) is committed to collaborating with our community partners to create a safety net around those impacted by dementia," said chapter Executive Director, Cheryl Ricci-Francione.  "We provide a vast array of resources and educational programs to New Jersey residents, all at no cost. We are able to provide these services due to the generous support of those who walk to raise funds and awareness, our donors and corporate sponsors. We welcome this collaboration."

Surrogate Darling and Robyn Kohn, Director of Programs and Services of AAGNJ, will come together at the Surrogate's Session on Nov. 13 to raise awareness of the disease and to offer a platform for residents to understand and hear about essential services and support, while having the opportunity to voice their needs and concerns in caring for their loved ones.

The Alzheimer's Association works with individuals, families, caregivers and guardians to promote healthy independent living and help manage the progression of Alzheimer's and memory loss by providing access to services and information on providers and resources.

The Morris County Surrogate's Court processes and handles guardianships designed to protect individuals afflicted with memory loss, while affording them the greatest possible amount of self-determination over their lives.  Surrogate Darling will continue her work with the community with in person speaking engagements and online forums.
