Brief Description of Job and Division/Department
The County of Morris, Division of Public Health is seeking a fulltime (40 hours per week) licensed Registered Environmental Health Specialist. Position includes excellent benefits package.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Under supervision and direction, the employee:
Performs sanitary inspections for compliance with applicable public and environmental health regulations.
Investigates complaints of nuisances and violations of applicable public health laws and ordinances.
Reviews and may approve plans for residential, commercial, and industrial development as necessary to ensure compliance with sanitary, environmental, and public health laws, rules, and ordinances.
Investigates foodborne, airborne, waterborne, and other suspected disease outbreaks as required.
Initiates and completes enforcement action including preparation of notices and provides testimony during legal proceedings.
Maintains accurate paper and electronic records of surveys, investigations, and inspections performed.
May respond to emergency situations.
The position may require evening and/or weekend activities.
NJ Department of Health licensure as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) is required. Certification as a NJ Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Hazardous Materials Technician 80 hour course, and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) credential a plus.
