Brief Description of Job and Division/Department

Morris County’s Office of Information Technology is seeking an experienced self-motivated IT professional with extensive Virtual Desktop experience who is proficient at deploying and maintaining an Enterprise Virtual DT environment. The successful candidate will be responsible to participate in engineering and maintaining the County’s VMware VDI Horizon environment. This position requires a person who has proven experience and expertise setting up, configuring, deploying and supporting a 1000 plus users in an Enterprise VDI environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Proficient in VMware Horizon and associated technologies that includes vSphere, vSAN for Horizon, ThinApp, App Volumes, VMware Dynamic Environment Manager, Unified Access Gateway, vRealize Operations, Workspace One Access, and Instant Clone Technologies
  • Experienced with operating and maintaining a Dell EMC VxRail infrastructure
  • Experience with Kemp Load Balancers
  • Experienced at creating, optimizing and securing both non and persistent • desktop pool(s) master (golden) images Experience delivering VDI to Thin and Zero Client appliances
  • Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) in a VMware Horizon (VDI) Environment
  • Experience configuring Microsoft Group Policy in a VMware Horizon (VDI) Environment
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and replication of a VMware Horizon (VDI) Environment
  • Experience developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the VMware Horizon (VDI) Environment
  • Proficient at administrating Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory including DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Management
  • Proficient at administrating Office 365 technologies within a VMware Horizon (VDI) Environment
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment
  • Possess good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with co-workers, supervisors, and customers
  • Ability to work under pressure during a system failure impacting 100’s of users
  • Able to support emergency and unplanned after hours and weekend support
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to prioritize, change directions and meet project deadlines
  • Fluent at reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and communicating in English

Qualifications

VMware Certified Professional - Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) Minimum 2 years of Senior System Administration experience that includes supporting an Enterprise VMware Horizon environment of up to 1000 users. Experience performing System Administration (SA) of Microsoft Severs to include administering Active Directory and deploying group policies Hyper Converge (HCE) technologies experience; particular Dell/EMC VxRail Minimum -Bachelors degree in Computer Science or other IT related discipline. Preferred experience may be substituted for a degree. Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
