Project Focused on Section Between NJ Transit’s Morris and Essex Line and Pocahontas Lake.

The Morris County Park Commission will hold a public information session next month on the Patriot’s Path Great Morristown Greenway Project, which proposes enhancing pedestrian and bicycle safety along nearly a mile section of the path between Martin Luther King Avenue and Speedwell Avenue.

The “Public Information Center,” to be held virtually on Aug. 26, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., is an opportunity for the public and business owners to learn more about the project and provide input on the planning. Participants will be able to review exhibits, ask questions and discuss any concerns.

The purpose of the project is to improve an existing 8-foot-wide, dirt and gravel section of Patriots’ Path with porous paving and asphalt, with the addition of amenity areas, interpretive signage, replacement of a pedestrian bridge and some fencing. The path section runs between a portion of NJ Transit’s Morris and Essex Line and Pocahontas Lake.
