Surrogate Darling Speaking In Front of Morris County Council on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans

This week, Morris County Surrogate Heather Darling met with the Morris County Advisory Council on Aging, Disabilities, and Veterans, speaking with members both in person and via Zoom. During the meeting, Surrogate Darling provided updates on key initiatives from her office, including the latest progress on her statewide advocacy for electronic wills legislation. She shared that the final draft of the bill is currently being written and emphasized how the proposed law would expand the utility of Surrogate Offices throughout New Jersey by allowing for the probate of digitally executed wills.

Surrogate Darling also underscored her commitment to listening to the needs of New Jersey residents, stating that her lobbying efforts are always informed by what the citizens of this state want and need from the probate system. She explained how her office handles a wide range of responsibilities, including managing the Minors Trust Fund, and concluded by taking questions from the audience to further engage with the council’s concerns and interests.
