The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office participated in the Morris County Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, 2022, hosted by Senator Anthony Bucco, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Morris County Board of Commissioners and Morris County Department of Human Services. The annual event honors loved ones lost to the prescription and illicit drug epidemic.

International Overdose Awareness Day, is a global event held every year to raise awareness of overdose and fentanyl poisoning, reduce the stigma of addiction and to memorialize those lost to this epidemic.

Speakers included Senator Anthony Bucco, Assemblywomen Aura Dunn, Morris County Board of Commissioners Director Tayfun Selen, Sheriff James M. Gannon, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Bradford Seabury, recovery partners, members of the community in recovery, and Morris County residents who have lost loved ones to an overdose.

Today’s program remembers all of our community members lost to an overdose, supported all those in recovery, offered paths and services to those struggling with addiction and called for all of us in public service, along with all of the community, to break the stigma and help those in need on the path to recovery.
