Five promoted by Morris County Prosecutor's Office

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office on Monday promoted five individuals to new positions.

Promoted to Supervising Assistant Prosecutor was LaJuan Tucker, who had been an Assistant Prosecutor.

Following a judicial clerkship, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Tucker began her legal career with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2002 when she was assigned to the Juvenile Unit. Within two months, she was reassigned to the Trial Team, handling adult criminal cases. In 2003, she was designated as the Drug Court Prosecutor, and served in that unit until 2006. During that time, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Tucker tried multiple cases resulting in criminal convictions, including Burglary and Criminal Sexual Contact cases, which were upheld on appeal

In 2015, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Tucker assisted on an investigation in which the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit received a Commendation Award for the arrest and confessions of two individuals charged with Human Trafficking and sexual assault of two minors. That year, she was the assistant prosecutor when the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit received a Commendation Award for the results of an investigation into the attempted kidnapping and a series of sexual assaults of three minors in Rockaway Township.

Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Tucker will be assigned to supervise the Pretrial Services Unit.

Promoted to Captain was Anthony Mauceri, who previously held the rank of Lieutenant.

Captain Mauceri was hired as an agent by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 1996 and was promoted to Detective in 1997. During his career, he has been the lead case detective and/or supervisor for many high profile investigations, including police-involved shootings and murder cases.
Most recently, while supervising the Major Crimes Unit as a Sergeant and as a Lieutenant, he played a vital role in the investigation of drug overdoses as potential homicides. During this time, multiple investigations have resulted in successful prosecutions, ranging from drug-related convictions to homicide convictions. In addition, Captain Mauceri recently provided testimony as a state witness in the successful murder prosecution of Virginia Vertetis. Captain Mauceri will command the Tactical Division.

Promoted to Lieutenant was Gregory Rossi, who had held the rank of Sergeant.

Lieutenant Rossi began his career in law enforcement in 1993 as an Investigator with the New Jersey State Attorney General's Office. During that time, he conducted investigations related to the casino gaming industry in Atlantic City. He was hired by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 1997 and has been assigned to many units, including the Professional Standards, the Fraud, the Special Enforcement-Narcotics, the Fugitive, and Major Crimes units.

Lieutenant Rossi has more than eight years of experience in the Major Crimes Unit and has been the lead detective and supervisor in numerous high-profile homicide and robbery investigations. He will continue to supervise the Major Crime and Vehicular Homicide Units.

Promoted to Sergeant was James Bruno, who previously held the rank of Detective Supervisor.
Sergeant Bruno began his career at the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2009 as a support staff employee assigned to the Intelligence and Special Enforcement Units. In 2010, he was promoted to Detective. Sergeant Bruno was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit in February 2016, where he worked on investigations involving armed robberies, fatal motor vehicle accidents, officer involved shootings, attempted murders and various other death investigations and violent crimes.

In August of 2016, he was promoted to Detective/Supervisor and was assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit. There, he assisted with the supervision of investigations and the field supervision of covert and overt operations involving violations of controlled dangerous substances. Sergeant Bruno will supervise the Special Enforcement Unit.

Promoted to Detective Supervisor was Mark Occhiuzzo, who had held the rank of Detective.

Detective/Supervisor Occhiuzzo is in his 23rd year of law enforcement and has been with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office for 12 years. He previously worked for the Blairstown Police Department, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office and the Carlstadt Police Department. After 9, he was assigned to the Bergen County Joint Terrorism Task Force handling Security Threat Investigations throughout Bergen County.

In 1998, he received a Life Saving award for saving a choking victim while on patrol with the Carlstadt Police Department. In 1999, he received a Meritorious Service Award from the Carlstadt Police Department for disarming a man with a knife. Detective/Supervisor Occhiuzzo will assist in supervising the Domestic Violence Unit.
