Former NJ Judiciary Employee Admitted into Pre-Trial Intervention Program

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that Joseph Robortaccio, 35 years old, of Lafayette, New Jersey, was admitted today into the Pre-Trial Intervention Program. Robortaccio, a former New Jersey Judiciary employee who served as a Probation Officer in the Morris/Sussex Vicinage, was arrested on April 2, 2014 for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Special Enforcement Unit received information from members of the Morris County Sheriff's Office pertaining to drug distribution activity in and around 10 Court Street, Morristown, New Jersey, specifically, the Morris County Superior Courthouse and the Administration and Records Building. As a result of the information provided by members of the Morris County Sheriff's Office, a joint investigation was launched. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Robortaccio.
Defendant entered a plea of not guilty and was admitted into the Pre-Trial Intervention Program in Passaic County Superior Court for a period of twelve months. Defendant was ordered to perform seventy-five hours of community service, attend Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous, in addition to continued substance abuse treatment, and be subject to random urine monitoring. Defendant was also assessed a total fine amount of $1,225 which included the $1,000 DEDR penalty and other court fees.
