MORRIS COUNTY DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR DRUG & GUN CRIMES

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, and Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker, announce that Ismael Lorenzo, Jr., age 36, formerly of Victory Gardens, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison.

On July 28, 2022, a Morris County jury returned a verdict finding Lorenzo, Jr., guilty the following crimes:  Possession of a Weapon While Committing Certain Drug Crimes, Money Laundering, Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Dangerous Substances, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. These crimes occurred in December 2019 in the Borough of Victory Gardens.  

On August 25, 2022, Presiding Criminal Judge Stephen J. Taylor, imposed an aggregate sentence of 20 years in New Jersey State Prison. The first 5 years of the sentence the defendant will be ineligible for parole. As part of this aggregate sentence, the defendant must serve a consecutive sentence of five years in prison on the Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance and 5-year consecutive sentence on the Money Laundering count.

Carroll, First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood and Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker thanked the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Enforcement Unit/Narcotics Task Force, the New Jersey State Police, the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department, the Chatham Township Police Department, and the Rockaway Township Police Department for supplying personnel to the task force that participated in this investigation and prosecution. The Office also thanks the Morris County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 Unit, the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, whose efforts contributed to this successful prosecution.
