Published on April 05, 2022

On Monday, April 4, 2022, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Environmental Crimes Unit presented a check from the New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators to the Morris County Juvenile Firesetter Prevention Program. The check was accepted on behalf of the program by Youth Services Coordinator Jessica Filosa-Mondino of the Morris County Department of Human Services, Division of Community and Behavioral Health Services.

The $500 donation was initially awarded to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Environmental Crimes Unit through the New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators Juvenile Firesetters Grant. These funds will be used to educate local law enforcement, fire officials, and school personnel.

The Morris County Juvenile Firesetter Prevention Program has been active in Morris County for over 27 years and provides fire safety education to children and adolescents. The goal of the program is to decrease the number of incidences of new fires set, reduce the risk of recidivism, and prevent any injuries caused by fire setting.

Attending the check presentation were fire service members who are active in the program, including Fire Official Michael Pellek of the Township of Roxbury Fire Prevention Bureau and Captain Ed Nunn of the Madison Fire Department.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll and Chief of Detectives Christoph K. Kimker would like to thank all of the individuals associated with the program for their hard work and dedication to the residents of Morris County.

Last month, the New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators presented the Investigation Unit of the Year award to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson and Environmental Crimes Unit. MCPO Detective Supervisor Luis Goncalves was also awarded the Investigator of the Year recognition at the March 3, 2022 event.
