MCPO Promotes Legal Team Member to Senior Assistant Prosecutor

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, and Chief of Detectives Robert McNally announce the promotion of Catherine LaQuaglia to Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
A formal ceremony was held on June 16, 2025, at the Commissioners Public Meeting Room.
Senior Assistant Prosecutor LaQuaglia will continue to be assigned to the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit within the Tactical Division.
Sr. AP LaQuaglia formally began her career with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office in January 2014, and has served the office in various units, including the Appellate, Megan’s Law, Fraud, Animal Cruelty, and General Investigations, before joining the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit four years ago. In 2023, Sr. AP LaQuaglia was designated as the Human Trafficking Liaison to the Attorney General’s Office and assumed responsibilities overseeing the successful investigation and prosecution of instances of Human Trafficking, as well as community education and outreach within Morris County.
Sr. AP LaQuaglia has been involved in a number of notable Morris County cases, including securing guilty pleas in connection with the sexual assault of a victim, in broad daylight, on the traction line recreation trail in Morris County.
Sr. AP LaQuaglia completed several significant trainings, including the North American Human Trafficking Conference in Las Vegas, and Top Gun and The Finding Words/Child First Forensic Interview Training here in New Jersey.
Prior to joining the MCPO, she interned for the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Sr. AP LaQuaglia earned her bachelor’s degree with a major in Political Science and a minor in Peace and Justice from Villanova University. She worked as a paralegal for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before earning her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law.
Prosecutor Carroll said, “Sr. AP LaQuaglia has vigorously represented the State in numerous testimonial motions, jury and bench trials, many of which resulted in favorable outcomes on behalf of the State of New Jersey. In recognition of her knowledge and experience, I am proud to promote her to a leadership position in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.”
