On Monday, August 20, 2018, Morris County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Brad Seabury and Detective Supervisor Stephanie Merced attended the monthly Morris Center for Addiction Recovery Education & Success (CARES) breakfast at their headquarters in Rockaway Borough. CARES is a volunteer based organization, which works to engage and organize recovery efforts for those suffering from substance abuse disorder. Once a month, CARES invites local law enforcement, community leaders, and health care providers who specialize in addiction recovery efforts to come together to discuss the ongoing Heroin and Opioid Epidemic.
This month's breakfast followed up the Morris County Prosecutor's Office's The Opioid Crisis: Engaging the Community program held on August 15, 2018, in partnership with Morris CARES and Christ Church of Rockaway, New Jersey. During the breakfast meeting, CAP Seabury briefly touched on this successful event while giving an update on current statistics in Morris County concerning the Heroin and Opioid Epidemic.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office will continue to work with their community partners in combatting the Heroin and Opioid Epidemic. These partners are instrumental in the various operations the Morris County Prosecutor's Office participates in, such as Narcan 2.0 and Operation Helping Hand.
