Morris County Prosecutor: Law Enforcement Investigating Bank Robbery in Boonton

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Acting Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker, and Boonton Police Chief David Mayhood confirm an active investigation into a bank robbery that occurred this afternoon in the Town of Boonton, New Jersey.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., law enforcement received a report of a bank robbery that occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank, 302 Wootton Street, in Boonton.

The subsequent investigation has revealed that a male entered the bank branch and demanded money. No weapon was displayed or threatened. The suspect fled the bank on foot with approximately $2,000.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his 20's or 30's. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, a dark winter hat and dark sunglasses.

Numerous law enforcement agencies have responded and are currently investigating this incident, including the Boonton Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
