Morris County Prosecutor's Office and Partnering Municipal Police Departments Host Second National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day of 2018 on Saturday October 27th from 10:00am to 2:00pm:

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Investigations Stephen F. Wilson Jr., Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon, Morris Township Chief of Police Mark DiCarlo, Randolph Township Chief of Police David Stokoe, Morris Plains Borough Chief of Police Jason A. Kohn, and Hanover Township Chief of Police Mark D. Roddy announce that on Saturday, October 27, 2018, they will be participating in the second leg of the 2018 National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Program.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a bi-annual event coordinated nationally by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and is hosted by local law enforcement. This year the Morris County Prosecutor's Office is partnering with the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the Morris Township Police Department, the Randolph Township Police Department, the Hanover Township Police Department, and the Morris Plains Borough Police Department. The initiative encourages the public to turn over unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medicine for proper disposal. Members of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and the Morris County Sheriff's Office collect the turned over prescription drugs, and properly destroy them following the event.
This National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the following three locations in Morris County:

The first National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day of 2018 was held on April 28, 2018 and was an enormous success. Over 440 pounds of prescription drugs were turned over at these three locations including, 121 pounds at the Shoprite of Greater Morristown, 158 pounds at the ACME Supermarket, and 169 pounds at the Stop and Shop Supermarket.
Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said, National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is an extremely important tool in combatting the Heroin and Opioid Epidemic, as it provides families with the means of eliminating sources of potentially addictive drugs by properly disposing the unwanted medication in their homes. Following the positive results of last April, we are hopeful and eager that there will be an even bigger turnout on October 27.
