Morris County Prosecutor's Office promotes five detectives

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office on Monday promoted five individuals to new investigative positions.

Promoted to Lieutenant was Kristi Allegretta, who had held the rank of Sergeant. Lieutenant Allegetta joined the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2004 and was promoted to Detective Supervisor in 2014 and to Detective Sergeant in 2016.

In 2016, she received a commendation for the aggressive and thorough investigation of a series of sexual assaults on a minor victim over a period of years by multiple suspects. Lieutenant Allegretta will supervise the Domestic Violence, Juvenile, Missing Persons and Weapons Return units.

Promoted to Sergeant were Keisha Higgs and Marshall Wang. Both previously had held the rank of Detective Supervisor.

Sergeant Higgs joined the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2000 as an intern and earned a full-time position eight months later. She was promoted to Detective Supervisor in 2016. In September, 2016, she received a commendation for the successful investigation of a missing persons case involving a child being taken out of the country in a custody dispute. Sergeant Higgs will supervise the Domestic Violence, Juvenile/Missing Persons and Weapons Return units.

Sergeant Wang began his career with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office as in intern in 2007 and was promoted to Detective in 2010 and to Detective Supervisor in 2016. In addition to his regular assignments, Sergeant Wang is a Certified Crisis Negotiation Team member and is the office's human trafficking liaison. He will continue to supervise the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment and the Megan's Law units.

Promoted to Detective Supervisor were Leah Atterbury and Stephanie Merced. Both previously had held the rank of Detective.

Detective Atterbury joined the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2004 after a previous career with the New Jersey Transit Police Department and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Criminal Justice.

She has received many awards, including a Meritorious Service Award and an Honor Award for the apprehension of an armed robber. Detective Atterbury will assist in supervising the Juvenile/Missing Persons Unit.

Detective Merced was hired by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2014 after working previously with the Newark Police Department, Hudson County Sheriff's Department and the New Jersey Transit Police.

She has received three commendation awards, including one for an investigation with Boonton Township Police that led to the arrest of two adults for human trafficking. Detective Merced will assist in supervising the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit.

The promotions took place at ceremonies in the Morris County Freeholders' Public Meeting Room in Morristown.
