MCPO Honors Detective Supervisor Muhammad Thomas Upon Retirement

Detective Supervisor Muhammad Thomas has announced his retirement from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, and Chief of Detectives Robert McNally honored Detective Supervisor Thomas for his outstanding service and expressed the gratitude of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office on his last day.

Detective Supervisor Muhammad Thomas served in the United States Marine Corps from 1999 through 2003, where he completed four deployments as Machine Gunner Team Leader. Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Thomas joined the East Orange Police Department, first as a Civilian Aid, then being sworn in as an officer. During this time, he served as a Patrol Officer and Detective, and worked assignments in patrol, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Violent Crimes Task Force.

Detective Supervisor Thomas joined the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office in March 2017. After a brief assignment to the General Investigations Unit, he was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit within the Tactical Division, where he served for the remainder of his career. In July 2023, he was promoted to Detective Supervisor of the Major Crimes Unit.
