Paterson Man Arrested on Burglary Charges in Multiple Jurisdictions

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Acting Chief of Investigations Chris Kimker, and Butler Police Chief Ciro Chimento announce the arrest of Moises Echevarria, age 40, of Paterson. The arrest stems from an investigation into reported complaints involving multiple motor vehicle burglaries and thefts. The investigation was conducted by the Butler Police Department, with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the Bloomfield Police Department, Wayne Police Department, Woodland Park Police Department, Cedar Grove Police Department, and Clifton Police Department. The investigation culminated on June 19, 2019, which led to the arrest of the defendant who was charged with the following crimes:

32 counts of third degree Burglary in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2a(1)
2 counts of third degree Theft in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a
2 counts of fourth degree Theft in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a
2 counts of fourth degree Joyriding in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-10b
2 counts of disorderly persons offense of Theft in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a

Pursuant to the Criminal Justice law, Moises Echevarria was lodged in the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance and a pre-trial detention hearing.

This investigation was led by Det. Jarred Schmiedhauser with assistance from Sergeant Keith Soules, Patrolman George Beyloune, and Patrolman Dimitri Clarke of the Butler Police Department.

Prosecutor Knapp wishes to thank Chief Chimento and all law enforcement agencies who participated in this investigation and arrest.

Criminal complaints are merely accusations. Despite these accusations, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until they have been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Residents are reminded to please lock their vehicles, sheds, garages, and homes to prevent easy access to their belongings.
