Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp Announces Investigative and Legal Staff Promotions

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp today announced several promotions of investigative and legal personnel. The promotions, and accompanying transfers of personnel, shall provide for more effective command of the various legal and investigative units of the office.

Prosecutor Knapp stated, We are always striving to optimize the performance of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office to support our service to the citizens of Morris County.  These promotions and transfers are necessary to meet the ever-increasing demands in the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenders.

The following personnel will be promoted today with their new command assignments indicated.
  • Captain Denise Arseneault to Deputy Chief, will command all investigative                        personnel and will report directly to Chief of Investigations John R. Speirs.
  • Lieutenant Jane Recktenwald to Captain, will command the Special Operations Division.
  • Sergeant Steven Murzenski to Lieutenant, will command the Professional Standards, Financial Crimes, Insurance Fraud and Bias Crimes Units.
  • Detective Supervisor Christoph Kimker to Sergeant, will supervise the Professional Standards, Financial Crimes, Insurance Fraud and Bias Crimes Units.
  • Detective Michelle Timmons to Detective / Supervisor, will supervise the Domestic Violence and Weapons Return Units.
In addition, Alexis Keller, Esq. was sworn in as an Assistant Prosecutor today.  She was most recently employed by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office as a Legal Assistant until her swearing in.  She previously served as the law clerk to the Honorable Liliana S. DeAvila-Silebi, Presiding Judge, Criminal Division, Bergen County.  A.P. Keller will divide her assigned duties between the Civil Forfeiture Unit and the Appellate Unit.
The promotions were effective Monday, February 2, 2015, but the promotional ceremony was rescheduled because of the closure of County Offices due to the snow and ice storms.
