Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morris County Prosecutor's Office Acting Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker issue a statement on the discovery of a body in Lewis Morris Park in Morristown on June 28, 2020.
As indicated previously, this remains an active investigation. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit has been working continuously with the Morris County Park Police, Morris County Sheriff's Office CSI and Morris County Medical Examiner's Office.
Prosecutor Knapp said The Morris County Prosecutor's Office ordinarily does not issue public statements on active investigations. However, given the fact that unsubstantiated statements have circulated on social media, there exists a need to provide more information to the public at this time. There is no cause to believe there is any criminality involved. The Morris County Medical Examiner has determined the manner of death as suicide.
No further information will be released at this time.
