Cannabis Impairment and DWI Recognition

This class will provide all levels of law enforcement with the knowledge of how to prepare for a successful DWI investigation. We will reinforce what an officer has learned during the academy and their field training.   This class will provide a more complete and accurate assessment needed for a successful DWI arrest.  We will discuss information designed to improve the participant’s ability to recognize the vehicle in motion, parked motor vehicle, personal encounter, introduction to SFST, impairment due to drugs and/or alcohol, report writing and DWI Case Law. 

 

There are no prerequisites for this class.  This is not a SFST certification class. $200.00

Instructor: Michael S. Kelly is a Sergeant with the Jackson Township Police Department. He has been a certified Drug Recognition Expert for over 17 years and a DRE Instructor for 8 years. He has taught drug impairment in Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Sgt Kelly is also a PTC Certified Instructor and has been part of several panels and guest speaking engagements with the New Jersey League of Municipalities and Rowan University to discuss cannabis impairment, workplace impairment and the New Jersey Cannabis Law.
