This training will focus on law enforcement balancing the Rights of speech and assembly with maintaining the peace.

Topics:

• History and perspective of civil unrest and the Right to free speech.
• Case law review of the Right to speech and assembly
• Identifying time, place and manner with additional protections offered in NJ.
• Public vs. private property
• Rights of the press during protests
• Recording of police activity
• Review of applicable 2C laws
• Firearms and other weapons during a protest
• Voter and election day interference
• Use of force during protests and civil unrest training

Speaker Bio:

            Justin Tellone is a 12-year veteran Assistant Prosecutor from the Morris County Prosecutor’s office. He is the lead instructor for use of force training in his office.
