Cannabis Impairment and DWI Recognition:

The class provides the most up-to-date information pertaining to all the cannabis strains, cannabis combinations, the observable signs of impairment and how to properly conduct the field sobriety test based on the scientific studies. The class will review current case law which pertains to cannabis usage in the workplace, patrol procedures and review the NJ cannabis law. We then discuss the various forms of cannabis, the cannabis flower, hash, hash oils, the several synthetics, edibles and vapes.  We continue to discuss the observable signs and symptoms of cannabis and what an officer may see on the motor vehicle stop. We also discuss the difference between alcohol impairment and cannabis impairment. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity.  $200 per student

Instructor: Michael S. Kelly is a Sergeant with the Jackson Township Police Department. He has been a certified Drug Recognition Expert for over 17 years and a DRE Instructor for 8 years. He has taught drug impairment in Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Sgt Kelly is also a PTC Certified Instructor and has been part of several panels and guest speaking engagements with the New Jersey League of Municipalities and Rowan University to discuss cannabis impairment, workplace impairment and the New Jersey Cannabis Law.
