Preventative Measures: Understanding K-12 School Shooters

Presented by Dr. Joseph Uliano, The Valori Group

When: Monday, January 10, 2022 08:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Cost: $50.00 per student

Dr. Uliano has devoted more than a decade researching and understanding K-12 School Shooters, and his passion for this specialized training led to his cumulating master’s thesis titled, “Understanding and Preventing the Active School Shooter,” which emphasized the psychological typology of school shooters through a theoretical approach and learning the warning signs.

During the development of this thesis, Dr. Uliano conducted an exclusive interview with Sandy Hook Elementary School teacher and survivor, Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis, author of Choosing Hope (2015). The first-grade teacher’s interview lent the thesis with a survivor’s first-hand perspective of the horrific events that took place inside the school and in her classroom.

Staying true to his commitment to school safety and security, Dr. Uliano’s doctoral dissertation “Arming America’s K-12 Teachers, the Second Amendment and the Gun-Free School Zones Act: A Public Policy Analysis,” — focused on the then-controversial phenomenon of arming school staff as a potential deterrent. Dr. Uliano’s analysis offered more viable recommendations and alternatives which countered arming teachers, such as the deployment of armed police officers and school resource officers.
