Agricultural Services

Agricultural Conservation Program

The Morris SCD recently launched an Agricultural Conservation Program; affirming their commitment to our county’s farming community. It is our goal to provide natural resource protection and increase farm productivity and viability for generations to come.

This program is open to all farms in Morris County, whether they are preserved or not.
Among the services that will be provided by our in-house, certified planning staff:

  • Conservation Plan – Development – customized, meet federal/state requirements
  • Conservation Plan – Implementation – put in place the agricultural BMPs from Plan
  • Technical Assistance – specific issues: soil, water, air, plant, animal and environment resource concerns
  • Soil Testing – assessments of active carbon, wet aggregate stability, etc.
  • Engineering/Design Services – especially regarding stormwater management

Specific fees for these services can be found on Fee Schedule. Pricing is modest, with a special discount for new* or next generation^ farmers. Wherever possible, the District will assist farmers in obtaining grants to defray these costs.

*new farmer – less than 10 years
^next generation – substantial operating efforts, or transitioning ownership, on legacy farm
