Public notice is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Morris will hold a meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ Public Meeting Room, Administration and Records Building, Fifth Floor, Morristown, New Jersey. During this meeting, consideration will be given to the adoption of an amendment to the Morris County Solid Waste Management Plan (“Plan”) dated January 2026 for the Plan Inclusion for the Dan Como & Sons, Inc. C/O Daniel R. Como Jr. Facility (located at 3 Como Court, Block 41, Lot 1 in the Township of Montville, Morris County, New Jersey) from an Exempt Facility, as originally included in the Plan, to a Multi-Class (B & C) Recycling Facility in compliance with current regulations, after a public hearing is held thereon.
The amendment allows for the change in facility type from an Exempted Facility to a Multi-Class (B & C) Recycling Facility and authorizes receipt and processing of Class B materials (source-separated whole trees, tree trunks, tree parts, tree stumps, clean wood, brush, and leaves) and Class C materials (source-separated leaves and yard trimmings including grass clippings), with proposed maximum daily capacities of approximately 1,000 cubic yards (120 tons) Class B and 550 cubic yards (370 tons) Class C materials with a facility total of approximately 1,550 cubic yards (490 tons) per day incoming.
During the hearing, persons interested in, or who would be affected by, or are in favor, or are opposed to the adoption of the amendment to the Morris County Solid Waste Management Plan dated January 2026 for the Plan Inclusion for the Dan Como & Sons, Inc. C/O Daniel R. Como Jr. Facility from an Exempt Facility to a Multi-Class (B & C) Recycling Facility will be heard.
The Morris County Solid Waste Coordinator, James E. Deacon, with offices located at the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority, 370 Richard Mine Road, Wharton, New Jersey 07885, will be in attendance at the hearing.
A map, the plan, and the report have been prepared and may be inspected at the Municipal Building of each municipality within the County of Morris.
