Brief Description of Job and Division/Department

This clerical position in the Morris County Office of Risk Management focuses on the Insurance Verification process, assisting County Departments in compliance with County policies and guidelines. The work involves communicating with internal office staff and public vendors, facility renters and their stakeholders. Additionally, the candidate will interact with the County’s Insurance Broker and Attorneys regarding the execution of the County policies. The successful candidate will mediate the link between the internal groups required to collect insurance and the stakeholders required to provide it.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Work with various departments (Purchasing, Engineering, Park Commission, MUA, CCM, Buildings & Grounds) to review COIs and ensure they meet the County’s requirements  as set forth contractually or by the Insurance Commission.
  • Scan and maintain a paper file of Certificates and Endorsements.
  • Work with Insurance Broker to provide Evidence of Insurance for vendors/contractors.
  • Prepare and Distribute Morris County School of Technology proof of insurance letters using Mail Merge on a monthly basis.
  • Verify that Payment, Surety, and Performance bonds meet necessary qualifications.
  • Maintain a diary system to follow up on expiring policies to obtain updated COIs.
  • Assist with the Annual Renewal process of County Insurance Policies.

• Highly organized and self-motivated • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced office environment • Has respect and sensitivity for the importance of confidentiality • Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel • Excellent communication/telephone skills
