One-Lane Traffic Maintained During Three-Week Project in Roxbury Township

truck hit trestle Berkshire valley road Morris County will begin repair work Monday, July 14, on Bridge No. 14C4237, which carries the Dover & Rockaway River Railroad over Berkshire Valley Road in Roxbury Township.

Work will occur during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Construction is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, weather permitting. Temporary traffic signals have been installed to allow for one lane of alternating traffic through the work zone during the repairs.

The bridge is a single-span structure supported by riveted steel-through girders and includes open timber tie decking, floor beams and steel stringers. The repair work will focus on structural steel repairs, specifically reinforcing the connections between the floor beams and girders using steel angles.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes.

The project contractor is Sparwick Contracting Inc., of Lafayette, N.J. The contract is valued at $153,401 and is being fully funded by Morris County.
