CCM: Planetarium Shows This Weekend -- Enjoy the Universe from a Comfortable Seat in Randolph!

FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON SHOWS
Our solar system and the universe will be the focus of three very educational and entertaining shows this weekend at the state-of-the-art Madeline D. and Joseph J. Longo Planetarium at the County College of Morris in Randolph.

The shows include: Space Extreme'' on Friday night, March 10; Shapes in the Sky'' on Saturday afternoon, March 11; and Tour of the Planets'' on late Saturday afternoon, March 11. All three shows are repeated monthly through November.

The universe is just one of the many things presented in the planetarium. Virtually anything in the cosmos is presentable in new and exciting ways, including classes on a variety of subjects.
The planetarium dome is perfect for introduction to astronomy and general astronomy classes at CCM, but also for college-level presentations in meteorology, history, archeology, communications and literature. Grade school students, who make up the majority of visitors every year, also use the facility to augment their educations in science and space science.

The following is a look at this weekend's schedule shows:
Fri, March 10, 7-8 p.m. Longo Planetarium
The universe contains an amazing number of extreme objects and events. The Space Extreme series explores the biggest, hottest and most amazing of them. You can visit black holes, supernovae, colliding galaxies and others €“ all of which push the edge of understanding and imagination.
Recommended for those ages 8 and older, Space Extreme will take place at the Longo Planetarium in Cohen Hall on CCM's Randolph campus during one Friday each month at 7 p.m. through November. The dates are March 10, April 21, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13 and November 10.
Shapes in the Sky

Sat, March 11, 3-4 p.m. Longo Planetarium
Shapes in the Sky is a storytelling series featuring fun myths and legends from around the world and throughout history. The whole family will enjoy the engaging tales told in the program, which are great for every age.
Recommended for those ages four and older, Shapes in the Sky will take place at the Longo Planetarium in Cohen Hall on CCM's Randolph campus during one Saturday each month at 3 p.m. through November. The dates are March 11, April 22, May 13, June 10, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14 and November 11.
Tour of the Planets

Sat, March 11, 5-6 p.m., Longo Planetarium
Tucked away in a roomy section of the Milky Way is an average star, surrounded by a small collection of eight planets, hundreds of moons, and uncountable asteroids and comets. They just appear as tiny specks from far away, but in the Tour of the Planets series, you will see that each of them has a remarkable, unique story to tell.
Recommended for those ages six and older, Tour of the Planets will take place at the Longo Planetarium in Cohen Hall on CCM's Randolph campus during one Saturday each month at 5 p.m. through November. The dates are March 11, April 22, May 13, June 10, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14 and November 11.
