CCM Presents: 11th Annual Story Telling and World Music Festival on Sunday (March 12)

STORIES AND MUSIC FOR KIDS AND ADULTS -- at Randolph Campus

Come out on Sunday and spend an afternoon at County College of Morris in Randolph filled with the merriment of stories and music for the entire family.

The Eleventh Annual Storytelling and World Music Festival will feature outstanding storytellers, including storyteller Robin Bady with musicians Concetta Abbate and Skip LaPlante, and friends.

These outstanding storytellers and musicians will bring to life tales and tunes old and new. Treat your imagination to the power of the well-told story, spun round with music. Bring the entire family, with separate stories for the very young and for ages eight to adult.

The event runs from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m., kicking off with a musical Warm Up for all ages with Robin Bady and musician friends. It is a chance to go on a journey of rhythms and song - and to meet the master storytellers.

Admission: Admission to the event, co-presented by CCM Campus Life and Special Events, is $6.

A special Morning Workshop for teachers, which includes lunch and afternoon Festival admission, is $32.

Teachers can earn four Professional Development Credits when combined with afternoon storytelling performances. Lunch is included in workshop fee. Go to www.ccm.edu click on News & Events tab to register and apply for credits.

Robin Bady(JPG, 6KB) Robin Bady

ROBIN BADY: Award-winning storyteller Robin Bady has warmth, charisma and a deep love of language and story. She performs and teaches across three continents at festivals, theaters, schools, universities, libraries, museums, after-schools, cafes, bars, and parks.

Robin is published in Storytelling Across the Curriculum and Storytelling Magazine. She hosts the monthly BADYHouse Storytelling Concerts in Brooklyn and curates the annual Governor's Island Storytelling Festival.

Skip La Plante(JPG, 7KB) Skip La Plante

SKIP LA PLANTE: Skip invents, builds, composes for, performs on and teaches with musical instru­ments built from trash. He co-founded MUSIC FOR HOMEMADE INSTRUMENTS in 1975, has built more than 200 instruments, and composed music for modern dance and off-off Broadway theater presentations. Concetta Abbate(JPG, 8KB) Concetta Abbate

CONCETTA ABBATE: Concetta is a violinist, violist, vocalist and composer in New York City. After a child­hood dedicated to classical training, Concetta became interested in folk music, pop, and jazz. KEN KARNAS: Ken is a storyteller. Fairy tales, legends, folklore, memoir€”Ken loves them all! As a teacher, Ken quickly discov­ered that kids learned almost anything if it was wrapped inside a story. Ken has shared his tales in libraries, museums, parks, and at Tellabrations and storytelling festivals. Recently, he was the 2016 Lehigh Valley Story Slam Grand Slam winner.

ROSEMARY WRIGHT: Rosemary is a storyteller who tells folktales and legends from many traditions with themes of friend­ship, courage, and wisdom in unexpected places. Her stories are engaging to children and thought provoking to adults. She includes puppets and props mixed with humor and audi­ence participation to bring stories to life. She has studied acting, clowning, and Japanese self-defense.

MEGAN HICKS €“ Workshop Leader: Storyteller Megan Hicks has a way with words. Add her warm sense of humor and deep re­spect for anybody who is now or ever was a kid. As a professional storyteller, her credits range from small venues in rural America, to regional stages throughout the U S, and three continents.
