NJ Hope and Healing Crisis Counseling Program is Free, Confidential

Through individual and group counseling, the NJ Hope and Healing Crisis Counseling Programat the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris is offering free emotional support, guidance, information, referrals, and COVID-19 resources for anyone who has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Services are free, confidential, and virtual.The program serves anyone from aschool-age childto anadult,orsenior citizen. Examplesof people who may benefit from the program include:

  • NJ Hope and Healing logoParents who are home-schooling their children
  • Children who are adjusting to homeschooling or hybrid learning
  • Teens or college students who are not attending school or on campus learning regularly
  • Senior citizens who are cut off from families due to health concerns
  • Essential workers who are constantly at risk due to exposure
  • Anyone who has lost their job, a loved one, or the opportunity to celebrate an achievement or milestone

Individual Crisis Counseling Program:

Individual counseling is available for people feeling anxious about COVID-19. It's free, confidential and virtual. Just call between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.: 973-509-9777, ext. 151, or email [email protected].

COVID-19 Support Group:

For many, this has been a time of great uncertainty and anxiety. The Crisis Counseling Program team is offering a support groupfor anyone emotionally impacted by COVID-19. This is a weekly, open, drop-in group.

Wednesdays from 2 - 3 p.m. on Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

After School Chat & Craft:

These groups were created in direct response to the changes, uncertainty, and stress brought on by the pandemic. These groups are a safe space for children ages 7-12, and teens ages 13-18 to chat, create, and de-stress. Registration is required: call 973-509-9777 ext. 151 or email [email protected].

After School Chat & Craft, Ages 13-18:

Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:15 p.m., on Jan. 1, 14, 21 and 28.

Consumer Thursday:

A safe space where those who receive mental health services from MHA can come together, connect, and discuss any concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an open, drop-in group.

Thursdays from 5 - 6 p.m., on Jan. 14, 21 and 28.

Fun Zone Friday:

A virtual activity group for individuals ages 18 and up. This group, which meets twice a month, is a fun and interactive way to connect with others using art and games.
