Public Assistance Being Sought in Probe of Route 46 Fatality

Morris County authorities are asking for the public's assistance in their probe of a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was killed along Route 46 East in Denville between Schumacher Chevrolet and Elm Street.

(JPG, 66KB)At approximately 10:21 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2020, a 54-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle that fled the scene of the crash, according to a press release issued by Acting Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker and Chief Frank Perna of the Denville Police Department.

The pedestrian was located on the shoulder of Route 46 East. He was critically injured in the incident and was pronounced dead at Saint Clare's Denville Hospital. The identity of the individual is not being released at this point in the investgation.

Numerous law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the(, 0B) incident, including the Denville Police Department, Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Morris County Sheriff's Office.
