Freeholders Approve Road Paving Projects in Eight Morris County Towns

The Morris County Board of Freeholders recently passed resolutions approving a series of 2020 road paving projects in eight Morris County towns, as part of an aggressive plan to pave more than 40 miles of county roads this year.(JPG, 18KB)

The freeholders, in a unanimous vote at a recent meeting (held remotely via a telephone conference call), approved paving sections of the following roads:

  • Denville: River Road/Bush Road (County Route 603)
  • Florham Park: Columbia Turnpike (CR 663A)
  • Harding: Long Hill Road (C.R.604)
  • Jefferson: Berkshire Valley Road (C.R. 699)
  • Kinnelon: Boonton Avenue (CR 511)
  • Long Hill: Long Hill Road (CR 605)
  • Mt. Arlington: Howard Boulevard (C.R. 615)
  • Rockaway Twp.: Green Pond Road (C.R.513)

The county governing board also awarded a contract for the replacement of the West Central Ave Bridge over tributary of the Rockaway River in Wharton Borough to Reivax Contracting Corp., for $344,900.

Maintaining the high quality of our road and bridge network in Morris County is a priority issue for county government,'' said Freeholder Stephen Shaw, the freeholder board's liaison to county public works projects. Continually investing in county roads and bridges has made Morris County THE Infrastructure County in New Jersey.''

The freeholders, in the county's 2020 capital budget, allocated $23 million for roads, bridges, railroads, and environmental cleanups, including 32.6 miles of resurfacing on county roads in 17 municipalities.

An additional eight miles of road work is scheduled (some of it already done) this spring and summer as leftover projects from the 2019 paving season.
