RECOGNIZES RIGHTS OF ALL COUNTY RESIDENTS TO HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES
The Morris County Freeholders have proclaimed April 2018 as Fair Housing Month in Morris County, marking the 50th anniversary of the federal Fair Housing Act, a federal law that mandates equal housing opportunities for all residents.

On this 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, it is most appropriate to call public attention to the fact that all Americans have a right to fair housing opportunities. But many residents in our state and nation, and even some here in Morris County, do not have adequate housing for themselves and their families,'' said Deputy Freeholder Director Christine Myers.
The right to live where you choose, to raise a family and own a home in dignity, without fear of discrimination is a fundamental right to all of our residents,'' added Freeholder Kathy DeFillippo, the board's liaison on human services issues.''
The proclamation was issued at last week's (March 28) freeholder work session in Morristown to Morris County Community Development Director Tim Tansey; Russ Hall, chair of the Housing Alliance of Morris County; and Osman Davies, chair of the Morris County Fair Housing Committee.
