Freeholders Fete 25-Year Human Services Volunteer

Thank You to Mary Jane Melo of Hanover Township

The Morris County Board of Freeholders has presented a resolution of thanks to longtime Morris County volunteer, Mary Jane Melo of Hanover Township who is stepping down from the Morris County Human Services Advisory Council after 25 years of service to our county's residents.

Mary Jane served on the Council starting on Jan. 4, 1993 and has helped the county over the past quarter century make important funding decisions on caring for our neediest residents €“ especially children and families facing economic and housing crises.

She has been particularly diligent in identifying service gaps and improving service delivery for Morris County residents of modest means.

Mary Jane also is a very active member of her community as a member of the Hanover Township Senior Club, the Polish American Club of Whippany, and Busy Hands Knitting at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton, among others.

Joining Mary Jane at the Board of Freeholders' Jan. 9 meeting were Human Services Advisory Council Chairman Ken Oexle, County Human Services Director Jennifer Carpinteri, Assistant County Human Services Director Sheila Carter, Community and Behavioral Health Services Director Laurie Becker, County Administrator John Bonanni, and Superior Court Judge James DeMarzo, among others.
