I-287 South Lane Closure Scheduled for Tomorrow in Montville

Drainage Improvement Project Requires Right Lane Closure from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that the right lane of I-287 southbound will be closed near the Brook Valley Road overpass as a drainage improvement project advances in Montville Township.

The closure will begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, January 22, and remain closed until 3 p.m.

The closure will permit contractor I.E.W. Construction Group, Inc. to remove guiderail and install construction barrier, creating a work zone in the shoulder of the interstate. Two lanes of southbound traffic will be maintained throughout the day. The right shoulder will remain closed for approximately two months.

The project is part of a larger $6.7 million state-funded maintenance and drainage repair contract to make improvements in various locations in eight counties throughout North Jersey. In this location, the contractor is repairing a sinkhole and a drainage retention basin on the southbound side of the roadway.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weatheror other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information, and for NJDOT news follow Twitter @NewJerseyDOT or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
