Boonton
Independence Day Kick off to Summer, July 3, noon-3 p.m., Grace Lord Park and Canal Side Park. Free. Bring a blanket and picnic lunch to enjoy family games, pie-eating contest, music, horseshoes and bocce. For more information, visit the Boonton Recreation Facebook page.
Dover
Fireworks, July 3. Park at Dover High School. For more information, visit Dover's Facebook page.
East Hanover
Fireworks, July 4 at 8 p.m., Lurker Park. The event includes food, vendors and music. For more information, visit East Hanover's website.
Florham Park
Parade, July 5 beginning at 9:30 a.m. The parade kicks off from the center of town. Popular places to watch are Ridgedale Avenue up to Keyes Street or Ridgedale Avenue between Borough Hall and Afton Drive. Visit the town's website for more information.
Hanover Township
Whippany Burying Yard tour, July 4, 10.am. to noon at 325 Route 10 East, Whippany.
The Whippany Burying Yard predates the founding of the United States, New Jersey, Morris, Warren, and Sussex Counties. The WBY recently 1718 celebrated its Tricentennial, has the first known Colonial burial in Morris County, and is the site of the first church and school in the region. Resting in the WBY are first settlers, descendants of Charlemagne, ancestors of Presidents and others who fought in the French and Indian, Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Lake Hopatcong
Fireworks are launched from Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, July 4, rain date July 10.
Residents and visitors to the state's largest lake like to drop anchor for a view within the yacht club; or at restaurants on the water. For more information. visit Lake Hopatcong Foundation website.
Mendham Township
Fireworks and Parade: Fireworks are July 2 at Mosle Field; the Grandest Littlest Parade in America is July 3. Check the schedule.
Morristown
Morristown National Historical Park: The grounds of three of the park's locations continue to be open to the public. Beginning July 2, buildings at Washington's Headquarters, the Ford Mansion and museum as well as Jockey Hollow Visitors Center will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with capacity limits. To walk to the New Jersey Brigade Area, park at the Cross Estate and Gardens and take the walking path; the formal gardens are worth a visit as well. Fort Nonsense is temporarily closed for renovation.
Note that Revolutionary Times events are canceled this year, including the reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Ford Mansion and march to Morristown Green.
Guided tour of Jacob Ford's (Gun)Powder Mill, July 4 at 11 a.m. Meet at Acorn Hall, 68 Lafayette Ave., Morristown. Free. No registration is required. Morris County Historical Society's tour of the archaeological site highlights the role of the oldest remaining Revolutionary-Era powder mill site, offering insight into how a small wooden structure with a dirt/rock-lined floor played a crucial role in the U.S. fight for independence. Tours of Acorn Hall are $6 for adults; $5 for seniors; $3 for students; and free for MCHS members and children under 12. Learn more at morriscountyhistory.org.
Morris Museum is open on July 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Midsummer Night Jazz Party is July 1 under the stars. Currently, six exhibits are on view, including The Social Fabric: Black Artistry in Fiber Arts, an Exhibition in Homage to Viki Craig. Visit the museum site for more information.
Morris Plains
Morris Plains Community Band Concert in the Park, July 4 at 6 p.m., Roberts Garden Park, 99 Mountain Way, Morris Plains. Free.
The 40-piece traditional concert band, will feature a special program of patriotic songs for Independence Day. A 20-member choir will join the band for a performance of several patriotic songs. For more information, see the flyer.
Mountain Lakes

Parsippany
Fourth of July Fireworks and Concert, July 4 beginning at 6 p.m. at Parsippany Hills High School grounds. For more information, visit the website.
Rockaway Township
Tequila Rose concert, July 4, from 3-5 p.m., at Park Lake Gazebo, Mt. Hope Road, Rockaway Township. Free. The concert kicks off the Rockaway Gazebo summer concert series, first of nine summer concerts, from 3-5 p.m. every Sunday through Aug. 29. Free. View the summer schedule.
Randolph
The three-day Freedom Festival runs from July 1-3 on the grounds of County College of Morris. The festival features rides, games, food trucks, entertainment and a car show. Fireworks are July 2 and the parade is July 3. For details and schedule visit the Randolph Freedom Festival site.
