The Interfaith Food Pantry Network (IFPN), which serves Morris County residents by supplying supplemental and emergency food during times of need, will be honoring the New Jersey charity called Impact 100 - Garden State at their Virtual Spring Event to be held Friday, April 16, 2021, at 6:30 p.m.

The special one-hour event, entitled "Together We Make an Impact," will look back at this extraordinary past year, one in which IFPN client visits grew by 24 percent. The organization will explain to viewers how the IFPN is planning for the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the event will feature a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle drawing.  Impact 100 - Garden State is a unique group of philanthropic women who collectively fund high-impact grants to help disadvantaged, impoverished and underserved populations in Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties.

The grants are provided to non-profit organizations that complete a rigorous application process and are selected through a membership vote.

With food insecurity increasing among Morris County residents and a more vulnerable senior population because of the COVID-19 pandemic, IFPN found itself uniquely positioned to deliver fresh and nutritious foods to its clients thanks to a $100,000 grant from Impact 100 - Garden State. The 2016 grant from Impact 100, which supported IFPN’s Healthy Choices Mobile Pantry Program, enabled the IFPN to purchase a refrigerated van, hire needed staff and acquire high-quality, fresh produce and dairy items for distribution to Morris County residents through a network of partner agencies

“The grant helped us establish a new, innovative approach to addressing food insecurity and its associated health issues, efficiently expanding our distribution capabilities without duplicating efforts.  Our Healthy Choices Mobile Pantry leverages existing infrastructure that includes well-run and established food pantries, low-income senior housing units, nutrition sites operated by the county, and other nonprofit agencies," said IFP Executive Director Carolyn Lake. "When COVID exponentially multiplied the number of Morris County residents who lacked access to healthy produce, meats and dairy, we relied on the Mobile Pantry to reach them, increasing our number of Network Pantry Partners from 17 to 28.”

The Interfaith Food Pantry Network is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, established in 1994 by four area houses of worship to address a growing need among low-income families and seniors in need of supplemental groceries.  Last year the IFPN distributed more than 1.5 million pounds of food to residents in nearly all of Morris Counties 39 municipalities through its two Client Choice pantries in Morristown and Parsippany, and through its Home Delivery and Mobile Pantry programs.
