A Sure Sign of Summer: Annual Giralda Music and Arts Festival THIS SUNDAY -- in Madison

The perfect way to start the summer? Morris Arts' 34th annual Giralda Music & Arts Festival, THIS SUNDAY, June 25, at Giralda Farms (Madison Avenue.Route 124) in Madison.

(JPG, 16KB)At Giralda, you can hear the state's top orchestra, relax on the beautiful lawns of former Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge estate, see and purchase original artworks, enjoy family/children's arts activities, indulge your ice cream cravings at the fully stocked antique ice cream truck, and picnic with friends and family.

Best of all, weather is not a concern. By special arrangement with the Morris County Park Commission, our rain site for the festival is the Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township, which would host the same, full festival experience you would have outdoors - with the art show and sale, family arts activities, picnics (and prizes) and, of course, the concert!(JPG, 3MB)

Under the baton of Sameer Patel, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's Giralda program will feature -- among many others -- Key's Star Spangled Banner, the Allegro con fuoco from Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, From the New World, Grofé's Mardi Gras from Mississippi Suite, Menken's (arr. Holcombe) Beauty and the Beast; Williams' The People's House from Lincoln and Liberty Fanfare, Lowden's Armed Forces Salute and Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever.

In keeping with Giralda tradition, there will be prizes for the most inventive picnics.

All proceeds benefit the many programs and services provided to artists, arts organizations, schools and the community by Morris Arts.

Time: Gates open 4 p.m. for activities and picnics (no pets, no BBQ's). The concert starts at 6pm.

In advance: Adults: $15 adults (over 12); Children: $4; under 4, free.
