Cornerstone’s Adult Day Center Marks Two Decades of Care
Morris County Commissioner Christine Myers joined officials, caregivers and community members at Cornerstone’s Social Adult Day Center Monday to celebrate the non-profit program’s 20th anniversary of providing daily social engagement and personalized support to aging residents.
“Today, I am pleased to recognize the Social Adult Day Center on the occasion of its 20 years of providing a safe, engaging and welcoming environment for aging adults through programs that enhance their quality of life. Addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, including seniors, veterans, youth and families is, and will always be, a top priority for Morris County. That's why we are proud to partner with an outstanding organization like Cornerstone, who extend our reach and amplify our impact through their hands-on, community-based work,” said Commissioner Myers, who presented a certificate to Cornerstone Family Programs CEO Patrice Picard, commemorating the anniversary.

Cornerstone Family Programs Social Adult Day Center is located in the Morris View Healthcare Center at 540 West Hanover Avenue in Morristown and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The center operates independently with support from the Morris County Board of Commissioners, who help fund the program. In 2025, Morris County allocated $405,000 to support the center. This funding allows the center to offer sliding fee scales, transportation, caregiver support, and more.
“Programs like this are essential in reducing isolation and preserving dignity for our aging population,” said Christine Hellyer, Director of the Office of Aging, Disabilities and Community Programming.
Social adult day care is essential for aging residents and their families. Many seniors wish to stay in their homes as they age, but difficulties may arise when cognitive or physical decline occurs. Emotional stress can result for seniors and their families as they see a decrease in abilities, loss of independence and increasing social isolation. The Cornerstone Program offers flexibility and highly trained staff to ease the burden on caregivers and provide a community for seniors.
“This anniversary is a joyful reminder of what happens when public agencies and nonprofits work hand in hand to meet the evolving needs of our residents,” said Kasey Errico, Director of the Department of Human Services.
