Morris County Chamber of Commerce to Host Series of Public Policy Events

(, 0B)The Morris County Chamber of Commerce will hosting a number of public policy events in April and May, all open to both members and non-members of the chamber.

The chamber will host a 2017 Gubernatorial Speaker Series and has invited four of the leading candidates for governor: Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli (R-Somerset); Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno; former Goldman Sachs executive Phil Murphy, a Democrat; and Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex). Each candidate will appear separately and address and take questions from the audience.

The series will kick off with Ciattarelli's appearance at the Birchwood Manor April 13. Guadagno will appear at the Hilton Parsippany May 25. Murphy and Wisniewski are yet to be scheduled.

On May 2 the chamber will host its annual Legislative Luncheon with Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-Gloucester) and Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean, Jr. (R-Somerset). The two will hold an interactive discussion on issues of importance to the business community. The event will be held at the Park Savoy in Florham Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

On May 12 the chamber will hold a Washington Update Breakfast with Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11). Frelinghuysen will discuss his work in Congress, including efforts on health care, tax policy, security and defense, the federal budget and other critical issues. The event will be held at the Hamilton Park Hotel and Conference Center 8:00-9:15 a.m.

"Our elected leaders' decisions impact the economy and business and our goal is to provide our members with forums to discuss their concerns about public policy," said Paul Boudreau, chamber president. "All six of these events promise to be very informative."
