Morris County Freeholders Close Out 2017 Road Meeting Series in Mount Arlington

The Morris County Board of Freeholders concluded their 2017 series of county government meetings in towns across the county with a stop in Mount Arlington on the evening of Nov. 30, as part of the board's eight-stop 2017 road meeting''schedule.

Freeholder Director Doug Cabana presented Mayor Michael Stanzilis and members of the Borough Council with a special resolution of thanks for hosting the meeting, which featured featured questions and presentations by several county residents.

This was the county governing board's first meeting in the Borough since July 23, 2010.

Moving freeholder board meetings out of the county seat in Morristown to the county's 39 municipalities is part of the board's continuing effort to bring county government closer to their constituents.

We are thankful to officials of Mount Arlington and towns across Morris County who have hosted our Freeholder Board meetings this year,'' said Freeholder Cabana.

Our goal is to bring county government to our residents, making it easier for them to attend our meeting and understand county government a bit better, while having a chance to raise issues of local or regional concern,'' added Deputy Freeholder Director John Cesaro.

The Freeholder Board held meetings away from the county government headquarters in Morristown this year in Chester Borough, East Hanover, Hanover Township, Kinnelon, Mendham Borough Morris Plains, Mount Arlington, and Victory Gardens.

The board of freeholders meet twice monthly, usually on the evening of the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in Morristown. The public can comment at those meetings.

The board also holds public work sessions on the mornings of the second and fourth Wednesdays in Morristown. Residents are invited to observe but cannot comment at work sessions.
