Health Screenings and Services Support Public Housing Residents in Denville

More than 100 residents received health screenings and services during a community health outreach event last month hosted by the Morris County Housing Authority (MCHA), in partnership with Zufall Health Center at the Peer Place affordable housing community in Denville.

The initiative reflects the MCHA’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing while also connecting residents to programs that support overall quality of life. The event also included complimentary meals -- hamburgers and hot dogs -- provided by Zufall Health, and the MCHA sponsored an ice cream truck, offering cold treats for families and children.

Zufall Health, a federally qualified health center, conducted specific medical screenings during the event through its mobile medical unit. Services were provided on a sliding fee scale to ensure accessibility for all residents.

The collaboration reflects an ongoing trend of housing-health partnerships in New Jersey. Zufall’s mobile units, which regularly serve schools, shelters and public housing sites, complement MCHA’s high-performance standards recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Morris County Housing Authority continues to be recognized by HUD as a high-performing agency for maintaining quality housing and expanding resident services.
