Detours in Place for County Bridge Project in Jefferson Township
Crews are on site in Jefferson Township, demolishing the county-owned Russia Road Bridge over Russia Brook, one of 17 bridge replacement or rehabilitation projects slated for 2020 by Morris County.
The $1.2 million project will replace the existing 41-year-old bridge and both approaches. The bridge, which carries roughly 275 vehicles daily, was installed in 1979 and has had no major repairs done to it since that time.
The county-owned span is closed to motor vehicle traffic, with a 5-mile detour that will be in place for about seven months.
Detours signs have been will to guide traffic on alternate routes in both directions, employing Dover-Milton Road, Legion Road, Berkshire Valley Road, and Ridge Road during the project.
